About Our School

Aspen Montessori School is currently exploring opening a new site within the Minnesota Wildflower Montessori School network.

The mission of Aspen Montessori School is to integrate traditional Montessori education with explicit, science-based reading instruction. We are committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment where every student's unique gifts are celebrated and individual needs are met. At Aspen Montessori we believe a strong, supportive community can provide the foundation for students to reach their fullest potential.

Theresa O'Toole, M.Ed

Founding Teacher Leader

Academic Language Therapist

Montessori EL2 Trained Guide

Theresa has over twenty years of experience in a variety of educational settings. She has an Elementary Education K-6 and Language Arts 6-9 teaching license with a Master's degree in Education. When her son was diagnosed with dyslexia in the fall of 2021, she began her journey towards certification as an Academic Language Therapist. She was trained in both Basic and Advanced Orton-Gillingham through The Reading Center of MN and spent the next four years tutoring dyslexic students one-to-one. She also worked in TRC's Partnership School program at The Journey School in St. Paul for two years. She recently received EL2 Montessori training through AIM, but believes she has always been a Montessorian at heart. Theresa lives with her husband and their three children, who have been her greatest teachers in life. She loves being outside and taking family walks with their two dogs.
